A Big THANK YOU for my Blog Award

Hi everyone,

Well just taking 5 mins for a quick blog fix after endless washing and housework duties.  My father is now in his new "pad" and he absolutely loves it.  In fact he said he wished he'd moved 10 years ago, so do we by the way cause' we'd have been 10 yrs younger too!!  It was hard work organising in a week but we got their.  Still lots of boxes to sort out, but it will take a miracle to get him to dispose of anymore stuff!!

Anyway, I had a quick look at my e-mails and a message from Dawn stared me in the face saying there was a surprise for me on her blog.  I was so pleased to see that Dawn had tagged me for the new blog award I'm very honoured and would love to accept.

In accepting the award I've had to agree to the following conditions:-
1) You have been tagged, do you want to accept? YES! then create a post on your blog and post the love blog photo.

2) Link back to the person who gave you the award and say if you accept.
3) Choose 3-5 of your favourite blogs to tag, link these in your post too and tell the lucky people they have been tagged.
As the aim of this award is to bring unknown good blogs to light, please don't tag somebody with 3000 followers.
Okay so I'm saying a great whacking YES and a big T U to Dawn.

I will post the award on my side bar & I nominate the following blogs for this award!

Flutterby, butterfly

Hi everyone,
Today's posting is very short, as my Father is moving house on Thursday morning, and there is so much to do...  It's all come at once, as I've been asked to make another couple of cards for a 2nd birthday and a 50th, so I'm not sure where I'm going to fit going to work in.... hahahaha..
I made this sunday afternoon whilst hubby and a our son (visited) watched the footie together downstairs.
Anyhow, this card is a 6" square.  I've used lilac and turquoise paper from a 'hot off the press' pad that I've had for absolutely ages. I tore lilac vellum, punched a piece of cream cardstock with an oval punch and coloured it in pink.  I used a lovely big butterfly peel off, mounted onto card, cut around it and coloured it in using sakura gel pens. I then mounted it onto the oval card.  I punched a flower in turquoise vellum and a little embellishment on the top that I had in my crafty box - done and dusted!!  Would love to have made more but afraid time has run away... once again...

Well, be back soon hope you'll join me again.  Dee xx

Patchwork Pals 1st Birthday Boy

Hi,  Well I've finally finished the card for a friend's grandson's 1st birthday.  I would have liked to have posted a card that I had stamped and coloured myself, but as I do not own any stamps fit for the job, I have resorted to some die cuts that I already had tucked away in my crafty room.  I used patchwork pals die cuts and paper & card.  For his name and age I used some large die cut letters and numbers that I've had for quite a long time and they do prove useful sometimes, when someone wants a card big and bold.  In fact I've been asked to make a similar card for my boss's granddaughter's 2nd birthday, as everyone liked it so much, so it can't be too bad!!  I designed it as an easel card and on the base inside the easel I've put a pocket so that she can pop a little something inside for him.  I finished it off with silver peel off's as she wanted Grandson on the card also.

My second posting is using the feather stamps again but this time in blue and red. I stamped the feathers straight onto the red card and covered with gold perfect pearls to create a background affect.  I then stamped the feathers with versamark and dusted perfect pearls over again  onto blue card. I love using PP's as they give almost an embossed look.  I matt and layered both of the feather designs onto gold, red and gold cardstock to give a bold affect.  Two different colour ribbons, a couple of gems and all finished.

I may not be able to post again for a few days as I feel we are going to be extremely busy over the next couple of weeks, as we are taking my dad to view a 1 bedroom property tomorrow on one level, but he doesn't really want to move but is unfortunately being forced to due to mobility problems.  He's currently in a large 2 bedroomed house and he is now struggling to get upstairs, as he is 87 this year.  He is very nervous and upset and we are obviously worried about him.  Anyway I will keep you posted of events.

Thanks to everyone who is kindly following my blog, and a big TU to Eileen for putting the word out, I just hope I can live up to all your standard of work.   BTW is anyone going to the NEC in March, I'll be there as usual....  Bye for now.. Dee x

Inspiration Needed!!

Hi Everyone,

I am looking to all you experienced crafters for some much needed inspiration.  I have been asked to make a 1st birthday card for a friend's grandson who will be 1 on 25th January.

I don't usually do cutie cards and find 1st birthdays very hard to create, I find them much easier to design when they become toddlers upwards.

Any creative ideas would be warmly welcome.  In my last posting I mentioned I was going to try and do some stamping and colouring but alas my Sunday was too busy taken up with boring washing and cooking, as my hubby was working his weekend shift.

Well hope to post something new later on in the week.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and think of some ideas .......hahahah

Swirly Gems, Shaving foam & shimmer mists

Hi,  I've been busy having a play today.  I've made 2 cards in a similar style but different colours. I got the idea for these from watching Dawn Bibby's last DVD, so can't take the credit for the idea of using shaving foam, although using it in crafting has been around for umpteen years, but I think in this day and age of modern crafting it's been forgotten.  The first card is using black, silver and grey.  Firstly spray some shaving foam onto a paper plate (easy to throw away), Decide on colour choice and spray shimmer mists onto the shaving foam.  Cut a shape using white gloss card and dunk it onto the foam, pressing down lightly to cover.  Buff the foam off with paper towel and you're left with a lovely swirly design.  Leave to dry, matt and layer onto cardstock.  I've embellished using swirly gems & pearls, and paper flowers, misted with shimmer sprays.  Job Done.  Easy cards really, just a bit messy and time consuming, but a nice change.  My 2nd card posted is Pink, but made using the same technique.

If I get a little bit of time Sunday in between housework, I'm going to try some stamping with colours using Lavinia stamps  (before they become moth balled with lack of use)!!  Well hope to see you soon.

Love

2011 - Another Crafting Year Begins

A Very Happy New Year to Everyone, especially new followers of my blog.

I hope you all enjoyed New Year's Eve as much as we did.  We met up again with my son, daughter In Law, and her family, plus my  sister and brother in law, we had a terrific evening.  We spent it at an Indian restaurant, with fireworks at Midnight to see in the new year and drinks and disco afterwards.  You can see the photos on facebook (taken by my Daughter in law's sister), if you can bear to look !!

Well, my posting today is a card that I made for a friends birthday.  It is a quick and easy card using kanban die cuts, and I've added a bit of bling with ribbon, a flower and some small gem stones.  Although it's not clear on the photo, I've highlighted the shoes and handbag with some ice stickles.  You may eventually realise that I love pink, ribbon and gems so seem to include them in quite a few of my designs.

I've also attached a wedding card I made for my son's wedding in May 2010.  I was very pleased how well it turned out, and they too thought it was lovely.  It was a large white card with cream and silver accessories. I also love using gemstones and pearls, especially swirls.  I cut the hearts out using my slice machine, and added a couple of borders using pearl embossed paper, matted onto card. I cheated slightly as I bought the shoes and waistcoat already die cut.  I typed the message on my computer and mat and layered it onto the card.  They were married in Positano on the toe of Italy and it was very romantic.

I'm so proud to annouce I am going to be a grandmother in June this year !! Yippee.... I'm really looking forward to it.

That's all fo now, see you soon.
